Summer Vacation - Part I

Cups kicked off summer vacation with a play date with friends from class on the last day of school. I promised to schedule weekly play dates for her but quickly learned that most of her friends had activities scheduled already. She checked out the Rainier Beach pool renovated a few years ago with a friend and watched a couple $1 movies at a Regal Theater with another. Cups has been attending weekly movie nights hosted by moms of girls her grade, and she's enjoying time with her girlfriends.
As promised, Cups got a haircut for donation the day after school was out. (She picked this day because she remembered making her last donation the day after the last day at daycare.)  She did not hold back and cried throughout the haircut. It takes a hair dresser with a big heart to execute the good deed.
Following the haircut was a whole afternoon of emotional management. She vowed not to leave the house for the rest of the day. I was able to persuade her to stop by the toy store for the reward that she wanted. She perked up after browsing through the toy store. With much cajoling she then agreed to get out of the car to pick up lunch from the store. For the rest of the day she ventured out to Uwajimaya to get her favorite mochi (rice cake with red beans inside) and mail her ponytail.
We celebrated Daddy on Father's Day at Cafe Turko in Fremont.
While my kids still want to be seen with me, hahahahaha. . .
Cups and Gofres have played really well together all summer, especially now that Gofres is talking a whole lot.
Cups has enjoyed making popsicles.
During an evening stroll we noticed these unusually colored roses at the store.
Cake pops are Cups' new Starbucks favorite. She's tried the birthday cake and salted caramel flavors. (With Internet research I see that there are six flavors, but they have not been offered always, ha.)
For the Fourth Of July Cups and Gofres participated in the neighborhood kids' parade, hung out with Uncle Jason and went to a viewpoint in the neighborhood to watch the fireworks.
Cups dressed Gofres in her new pajamas. Cinderella had her (eraser) cell phone but still needed her glass slippers. Cups already wished that Gofres would not grow anymore and stay at this stage where he's agreeable to everything - or most everything - she says.
